I am sitting here reading this with an aching heart. I know these people. They raised me, some quite literally. And to be honest, this was even me up until a few years ago. I would have been excited at the thought of Christianity infiltrating every facet of society. Now, I am appalled and saddened and concerned for those on the "wrong" side of this movement. I plan to do my part to raise awareness and to lift my voice in opposition to all the policies this movement tries to put in place. I will speak out, not in hatred, but in love. I was taught that love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8) and I am desperately clinging to that and making it my battle cry.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this and to share it with us. We need to be able to name the enemy. As a Christian, it is very clear to me that the call is coming from inside the house. I refuse to be on the wrong side of history. I fully detest and oppose these ideals. I will continue to speak out against it. I knew about Christian nationalist movement but did not know about the NAR, thank you for giving me a name to fully conceptualize what it is. This is important work and I shared it.

This is not real Christianity. This is not godly. This is not my Jesus, nor is it his teachings. This is a disgusting ideology and what we are seeing now in the government is a product of exactly this. You explained it so well.

I grew up in the pre-pre-NAR William Branham cult. Nasty stuff with nasty origins.

You should write a post about it! I’d love to read it.

I’ve written a few posts about Branhamism and noted some connections to NAR but haven’t done a deep dive specifically into the Branham-NAR pipeline yet. I’ll have to do it soon though! Here’s one of mine that notes how some of Branham’s racist ideology stems from British Israelism and is upstream of some current nationalist stuff including NAR: https://open.substack.com/pub/bobbygilles/p/the-gospel-according-to-racism?r=2at1no&utm_medium=ios

Have you heard of John Collins and the William Branham Historical Research? They go deep into the roots of the Latter-Rain movement and all those who trace their lineage back to Branham and his shady beginnings, NAR included.

Yes! Good stuff. His occasional co-host Charles Paisley is from the same church within the Branham movement that I came from.

Good call Pascale. I was introduced to the Gulf Coast Fellowship decades ago. Latter reign. Sons of God theology. Etc. Had to set it all aside as it ultimately was so me-centered that we had pastors competing with one another from the pulpit running types and shadows all sermon long. The entire edifice has collapsed but there were sweet tidbits of truth within these messages that have profited me spiritually. That was back in the 80’s and subsequent to that my wife and I have been opened to the realities of the purpose for our common salvation. Saved for a purpose with a defined and revealed goal apart from “waiting around for heaven” has encouraged and strengthened and matured our walk with God and His firstborn son. Anyway again thanks for your observations.
